Registered Nurse, PACT

Position Summary:

The Nurse is a Registered Nurse whose goal is to maximize client's positive interactions with the environment and to promote and maintain client behavior that contributes to integrated functioning and successful community living.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current New Jersey License, CPR certification

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of a state accredited school or college of nursing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification in mental health nursing.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

  • Establish a program that focuses on wellness, recovery, and prevention for clients in program. Communicate with clients and families to provide needed information to make informed decisions. Maintain the confidentiality of all client information. Treat clients with dignity and respect.
  • Independently recognize signs and symptoms of behavioral decompensation and need for emergency treatment including PRN medication and/or hospitalization. Use knowledge of signs and symptoms of substance overdoses, withdrawal from substances of abuse, and multiple drug-use patterns in assessment of clients.
  • Where assigned, complete nursing assessment and/or continually gathers information to support the nursing process.
  • Collaborate with the client, family, and other members of the treatment team in the development and implementation of a restorative treatment plan.
  • Collaborate in the design of instructional programs to meet client and family learning needs as needed.
  • Maintain medications and medication room in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
  • Collaborate with the physician to provide ongoing treatment.
  • Obtain medications for those clients who are indigent via the Patient Assistance Programs provided by the drug companies.
  • Collaborate with the team to provide ongoing assessment and activities to help maintain community tenure. Assistance can be in, but not limited to Personal hygiene, Shopping, Daily living skills, Food preparation, Cleaning , Moving.
  • Where indicated, supervise self-administration, and monitor effects of medications.
  • Maintain a safe environment for staff and clients in the organization.
  • Clinical judgment and critical thinking reflect professional standards of care and provide for effective and safe patient outcomes.
  • Assess and respond to medical emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Able to interpret and carry out physician orders appropriately.
  • Be a resource to other staff regarding medical issues.
  • Knowledgeable of CPC Behavioral Healthcare's Medication/Therapeutic Policy and Procedures Manual and Infection Control Manual.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment is required. Employees must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate information pertaining to this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.
