CPC is actively recruiting an experienced and dually-licensed addiction recovery professional to join our Addiction Recovery Services (ARS) in our Red Bank office. Title: Behavioral Health Clinician II, HHCC ARS
Location : Redbank, NJ
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess or be willing to complete LCADC within a 2 year period.
- Must possess NJ license and Master’s Degree in clinically related field such as social work or counseling.
- 3 years experience working with adults with substance use disorders, as well as co-occurring disorders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 Years working with similar population.
- Experience utilizing evidence-based practices.
- LCADC and CCS.
The ARS counselor shall be responsible for the following:
- Assess the counseling needs of clients utilizing a biopsychosocial framework.
- Assess clients using ASI or other standardized clinical interview tool and diagnosing clients for substance use using ASAM criteria and mental health disorders using DSM-5.
- Determine the appropriate level of care according to ASAM Criteria.
- Assess for social determinants of health and incorporate into treatment planning.
- Assess and refer for medication consultation based on symptoms at any time during treatment episode.
- Identify “High Risk” clients and follow guidelines for Zero Suicide protocol.
- Obtain and review previous records that are relevant to the current treatment episode.
- Unless clinically contraindicated, collaborate with the client to develop a written treatment plan that includes goals and measurable objectives, and is client centered, recovery oriented, and includes family or extended network whenever possible.
- Provide counseling services specified in the client treatment plan.
- Review clients throughout the treatment episode according to ASAM Criteria, to determine the need for continued services, transfer, or discharge.
- Review and revise the treatment plan to address on-going problems whether substance use, mental health or SDOH .
- Develop a client discharge/transfer plan to ensure movement and connection to the appropriate levels of care.
- Coordinate referral sources, (for example, mental health treatment providers, criminal justice agencies, schools, employers, DCPP).
- Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team for assigned clients.
- Provide active case consultation and coordination of services with other providers involved in client’s care.
- Document all counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments, referrals, and follow-up in the client's clinical record, following agency guidelines.
OTHER PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
- Complete Biopsychosocial Assessment within the time frame established for the program and formulate treatment plan. Utilize ASAM-PPC2 and DSMV to determine level of care and diagnosis. Biopsychosocial utilizes a holistic approach and clinician must address all life domains in clear and understandable language and must include client and/or support network in the treatment planning process.
- Complete treatment plan for ASAM Level 1 (Outpatient) and Level 2.1 (IOP) utilizing evidence-based treatment approaches such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Stages of Change and Relapse Prevention.
- Utilize a holistic approach towards treatment planning and include medication-assisted treatment of both mental health and substance abuse disorders in planning, as well as case management to address all life domains.
- Complete annual in-service education required by Agency and DOH licensing and maintain CEU’s required for professional licensure.
- Maintain competency to provide treatment through ongoing clinical supervision and continuing education and successful completion of goals in yearly staff evaluation.
- Complete clinical documentation in a timely and effective manner. Comply with Agency and funding guidelines regarding documentation. Keep up to date on the use of CPC’s electronic clinical record.
- Follow Agency and regulatory policies regarding confidentiality and security of client information.
- Abide by Agency, State and Federal as well as professional licensing standards pertaining to client rights, ethical treatment, conflict of interest, HIPAA, etc.
- Identify High Risk Clients and work with team to provide safe and effective treatment outcomes.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other staff and supervisors as well as with clients, referral sources and outside agencies utilizing a “client centered” and “recovery oriented” approach.
- Complete all onboarding requirements such as background checks, physical, etc. and successfully complete six-month orientation period.
- Report incidents, client complaints, serious concerns regarding risk levels, etc. to supervisor in timely fashion.
- Utilize Agency policy and procedures to address issues related to risk.
- Participate in performance improvement and client outcome activities.
- Provide clinical supervision or program coordination for staff and/or interns as directed by Program Coordinator.
- Must have excellent technology skills and be comfortable utilizing EHR and other technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Must be trauma-informed in your approach to all aspects of and within staff culture client care.
- Must utilize a strengths-based approach to all aspects of care and within staff culture.
- Include the client and the client’s family and/or support network in all phases of treatment.
- Work cooperatively on tasks as assigned by supervisor not addressed above.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment is required. Employees must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate information pertaining to this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.
